EU to suspend several Indian generic drugs previously granted approved

The European Medicines Agency has announced a new recommendation to suspend several medicines that were previously approved based on GVK Biosciences’ clinical studies. GVK is based out of India, and the firm’s studies were conducted at a Hyderabad facility. The EMA is concerned about the reliability of the clinical studies, and wants to retest both the forms and the strengths of the drugs. In January, several EU member countries suspended sale of the drugs.
